Thank you to my Phi Mu Loves!

Well, September and October proved to be some of my roughest months. I was pretty much sick with the migraine for the entire month of September, and then the month of October was spent full of anxiety upon taking one MRI, it coming back abnormal, and then the fear of the results of the second MRI. Although it appears the worst is behind me, I have to say that I think this episode has forever changed my life. Now that I know that I am in the 3% of people who have had a "status migraine", I am working to change my lifestyle slowly to avoid any major migraine triggers for the future. This includes cutting certain foods out of my diet, watching my sleep patterns, and taking my topamax. I am also still worried about the fact that there was any fluid build up in my brain to begin with. That is something that I guess will just have to be monitored with my neurologist at my future follow-ups. With all that said, I also feel just so grateful because going through all of that could have gone a much different direction. Millions of people deal with migraines, and if that's all I have to deal with, I am one lucky girl! It could have been so much worse!

I was so blown away by all the love and support I recieved during the last two months. I always say that it's when you are going through hard times in your life that you learn who your true friends are. There are always a few that you thought would be there for you that don't show up, but that's not who you should waste your time on. I want to focus on all those people who do show up and have your back! And I will tell you who was there for me in a big way: my Phi Mu sisters! I have been out of the sorority for 8 years now, but the outpour of love I got from my sisters was absolutely amazing. Some of these girls I haven't even seen or talked to in years! I can't help but think to myself, this is what joining a sorority is all about. Sure, the parties were amazing and fun, but the kind of friendships and the love that we all share for each other is something that we take away that lasts forever. Sure it wasn't every single Phi Mu, but it was enough of them to make a difference in the way I was feeling and brighten up my mood.

It has always annoyed me when people would say the classic "You're paying for your friends" upon finding out that I was in a sorority. Well, to those people, I now say "They were worth every penny!" ;) My Phi Mus are priceless!
